Leah Rains,
MS, LMT, NCTMB
As
a Nationally Certified Licensed Massage Therapist since 1996, Leah has used
Reiki daily in her professional practice with clients. Leah was very ill when
she began her own Reiki self-practice. Reiki proved a crucial factor in her own
recovery from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fibromyalgia and environmental
allergies. As a Reiki Master and Teacher, she encourages clients to learn Reiki
so they may take a more active role in their own health care. When clients are
too ill to learn Reiki themselves, Leah often teaches their friends or family
members.
Since
graduating with a master’s degree from FSU, Leah spent 15 years working for
various public agencies focused on environmental resource conservation and
planning. She became interested in
massage therapy during her own healing and recovery process after a car
accident. Leah
became a Florida Licensed Massage Therapist and
Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1996.

The
focus of Leah's massage practice is therapeutic and medical massage. In
addition to traditional Swedish massage and Neuro-Muscular Therapy (NMT), she
uses a variety of gentle, non-invasive techniques which provide relaxation and
pain relief while causing little discomfort during treatment. Most massage
sessions include some Reiki treatment. She also uses NMT to treat temporal
mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. (For more detailed information see Therapy
Options).
As
part of her continuing education process, Leah has received advanced training
including treatment of TMJ dysfunction, massage therapy methods for working
with sexual and physical abuse survivors, and integrative polarity therapy.
Leah has completed the first two classes of Trager ® training.
She is currently in the process of completing her requirements to become
a Trager ® Level I Practitioner training.
